The Danz Ed Project

Welcome to the
Danz Ed Project!

We believe that dance education is an essential component of a comprehensive educational experience. Our program provides students with the opportunity to work with local dance professionals who are dedicated to helping students develop critical thinking skills, enhance their self-esteem and motivation, and develop respectful social skills with peers and adults.

But why should dance education be a part of the curriculum in schools? Well, for starters, dance is a fundamental and universal human activity. It allows students to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their culture, history, kinesthetic communication, and expression in the present-day world. And while dance is often seen as an art form, it has been recognized by many institutions as a means of improving physical, mental, and emotional intelligence.

In fact, studies have shown that dance can help improve memory, attention, and problem-solving skills, while also reducing stress and anxiety. Additionally, dance promotes physical health, coordination, and self-discipline, as well as social skills such as teamwork, communication, and respect for others.

At the Danz Ed Project, we believe that dance education can benefit students of all ages and backgrounds. Our program is designed to provide a safe and supportive learning environment where students can explore their creativity, express themselves, and develop important life skills. So if you're looking to enhance your school's educational experience, consider adding dance education to your curriculum with the Danz Ed Project.

We use dance as a means of developing and enriching students' understanding of the world around them.

  • Artistic Perception: Through the study of movement and dance vocabulary, students develop sensory awareness and the ability to describe movement.

  • Creative Expression: Students learn to apply choreographic principles to create meaning through improvisation, composition, and performance.

  • Historical and Cultural Context: We emphasize the importance of understanding the role of dance in past and present cultures around the world, highlighting human diversity and cultural significance.

  • Aesthetic Valuing: Students learn to critically assess and derive meaning from works of dance, as well as the performance of dances and original works based on the elements of dance.

  • Connections, Relationships, and Applications: We encourage students to apply what they learn in dance to other subject areas, developing communication and creative problem-solving skills that contribute to lifelong learning and career success. We also introduce students to careers related to dance, broadening their horizons and inspiring their future paths.

By focusing on these concepts through the study of dance, we aim to provide students with a well-rounded education that promotes creativity, critical thinking, cultural understanding, and lifelong learning.

Our mission is to provide students with a comprehensive dance education that goes beyond physical movements.

Our program aims to achieve the following:

  • Cultivating an appreciation for dance:  We believe that dance is a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. Our program aims to instill in students an appreciation for the art form, its history, and its place in society.

  • Fostering cultural literacy: We recognize that dance is an important part of many cultures around the world. Our program seeks to help students develop a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and to respect the traditions and beliefs of others.

  • Developing critical-thinking skills: Dance education requires students to think critically about movement, choreography, and performance. Our program provides opportunities for students to analyze, evaluate, and create dance works, thus enhancing their critical-thinking skills.

  • Enhancing self-esteem and motivation: Dance can be a powerful tool for building self-confidence and motivation. Our program encourages students to express themselves creatively and to develop a positive self-image.

  • Empowering physical, mental, and emotional well-being: Dance is a physically demanding activity that can also have positive effects on mental and emotional health. Our program promotes physical fitness, coordination, and relaxation, as well as stress reduction and emotional expression.

  • Developing respectful social skills: Dance is a collaborative art form that requires students to work together and communicate effectively with peers and adults. Our program teaches students the importance of mutual respect, cooperation, and open communication.

  • Developing technical and artistic skills: Finally, our program aims to help students develop their technical and artistic skills as dancers. We provide opportunities for students to learn a range of dance styles and to explore their creativity in choreography and performance.

At our educational institution, we believe that dance education can have a transformative effect on students' lives, both in and out of the classroom. By providing a comprehensive dance education that addresses physical, social, and emotional development, we aim to help students reach their full potential as individuals and as members of a global community.

At the Danz Ed Project, we offer a comprehensive dance education program that goes beyond the classroom.

Our program includes:

  • Instruction:  We provide professional dance instruction both during and after school hours, enhancing students' skills in musicality, performing arts, and physical education. Our classes are taught by experienced dance instructors who are endorsed by The Cortez Ballroom.

  • Performance Opportunities: We offer opportunities for students to perform in professional theatrical productions and showcase venues, alongside professional and amateur dancers in the community. Proceeds from these showcases go towards supporting The Danz Ed Project.

  • Competitive Opportunities: For students interested in advancing their dance skills, we invite them to join the Dancesport Competition circuit, which prepares them to compete and perform at more advanced levels.

We believe that dance education should be accessible to all students, regardless of their background or skill level. That's why we offer our program to communities throughout the region.
